Servant Leadership

Nathan Banana is Interim President Freedom Justice Coalition Zimbabwe Party

True visionaries inspire others to action.

In every society you have political leaders and a few who fit the servant leadership criteria whose interest is to serve society rather than pursue political office as a means to an end.
Interim President of Freedom Justice Coalition Zimbabwe Party Nathan Banana announced that he would not accept the role to contest in 2018 Elections if endorsed as a Presidential candidate at the party's congress because of time he would need to properly re-integrate back into Zimbabwean society and the resources such a process would require if he was still to run a successful political campaign.

*You can not expect to run any public institution by remote control..without being physically on the ground.*

Instead he stated that because of the state of the Zimbabwean economy and socio-political conditions in the country he would rather focus his efforts on helping other aspiring candidates within his party in Zimbabwe prepare to contest in local government elections and perhaps also filed a few MP's only because of the very poor political funding environment.

He stated that as part of his community partnerships strategy is that he would rather go back to intensify his philanthropic activities and income generating projects that he believes with the limited funding can at least have an immediate positive impact on their target constituencies whilst slowly building up their support for 2023 Elections.

He points out that not many candidates who aspire for political office can show examples of their efforts to serve communities since entering the political arena as most are more interested in securing positions and power hence most of their political campaigns are centred around holding big rallies and exciting the crowds by sharing in most times unrealistic election promises that are never transformed to visible outcomes but that sound good to the crowd.

He believes that a new political culture should be one based on highlighting government incompetency whilst at the same time introducing competitive alternatives that help to address some of the issues that government is failing to deliver as part of it's mandate. He says if political parties can attract thousands in political party donations, there is absolutely no excuse for not doing the same in terms of attracting investors to support some of their proposed solutions for their target constituencies.

People should not rely on the popular campaign promise of service delivery and solutions only when a political party is in power. He highlights the missed opportunities by MDC-T in offering better service levels in local government where they could have demonstrated that they were truly the right party to take over from the Zanu PF government.
